Appeal to Muslim Archeologists
Monday, November 30th, 2009The Qur’aan informs us that the people of Prophet Lot were destroyed for their sin of homosexuality. The following Verses describe how they were destroyed
Qur’aanic Verses 15.74 to 15.77:
Transliterations
74. FajaAAalna AAaliyaha safilaha waamtarna AAalayhim hijaratan min sijjeelin
75. Inna fee thalika laayatin lilmutawassimeena
76. Wa-innaha labisabeelin muqeemin
77. Inna fee thalika laayatan lilmu/mineena
Translations:
74. We turned the place upside down, and rained stones of baked clay upon the people.
75. In this indeed are signs for those with insight.
76. And indeed it is located on an established road.12
77. Indeed there is a sign in this for the believers.
Study Note:
12. I surfed the Net for any Muslim attempt at finding archeological remains of the site; but found none. Some Christian attempts have been made, but those are unsatisfactory. It is generally believed that the sites are located somewhere in the Dead Sea area. The Verse here informs us that it is on a road that is still in use. I appeal to Muslim archeologists to conduct their attempts on the basis of this Verse. The next Verse, 77, does indeed invite the believers to conduct the search for the site. This episode of Lot and his people is also narrated in Verses 11.77 to 11.83.
