Danish Cartoons
Qur’aanic Verse 16.126:
Transliteration:
126. Wa-in AAaqabtum faAAaqiboo bimithli ma AAooqibtum bihi wala-in sabartum lahuwa khayrun lilssabireena
Translation:
126. And if you retaliate, then retaliate with the like of that with which you were afflicted. But if you are patient, it will certainly be better for those who are patient.29
Study Note:
29. Recently, there was that case about Danish cartoons. Some Danish newspaper had published derogatory cartoons about our Prophet (peace be upon him). In pursuance of the divine directive in this Verse, the only thing the Muslims could do in retaliation was to publish an equally derogatory cartoon about Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) in one of the newspapers controlled by them. But could the Muslims do it? No, never! Because, for the Muslims Prophet Jesus is as honourable as Prophet Muhammad. The best response for the Muslims then would have been to be patient, in accordance with the divine directive in this Verse, and try and publish an article in the same Danish paper eulogizing Prophet Jesus. But the Muslims did not then follow divine directive. They called for death to the persons concerned in the publication of the said Danish cartoons and for boycott of all Danish goods. How would Allah help the Muslims if they won’t follow His advice?

Yes daily we are getting e-mail messages to boycott some goods from some contries.Who gave them this authority ?
[5:87] O you who believe, do not prohibit good things that are made lawful by GOD, and do not aggress; GOD dislikes the aggressors.
[5:88] And eat from the good and lawful things that GOD has provided for you. You shall reverence GOD, in whom you are believers.
Of course if we are obeying those messages we are doing idolwoship
[12:106] The majority of those who believe in GOD do not do so without committing idol worship
This is a time to think
Are we believing God’s words ?
Are we Muslims ?
Are we doing shirk?

You are absolutely right. The Gods word is not being followed and hence Muslims of the world are in trouble today.

Yes it is indeed right!!.
However, it is important that a concern must be raised. This concern needs to be made in a peaceful and humble manner and I feel this requires patience which Allah refers to in these verses.
